Haudenschild Hoping for Another Big Payday In $166,600 "Mopar Thunder at Eldora" Saturday

Jac Haudenschild of Wooster, Ohio, who raked in $200,000 for his victory in last year's spectacular "Mopar Million Sprint at Eldora," returns to the half-mile dirt Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio this Saturday night seeking a $50,000 payday as USAC's National Sprint Car Series competes in the "Mopar Thunder."

Haudenschild won last year's 40-lapper, which offered the biggest Sprint car paycheck in racing history. He hopes to add to his bank account this Saturday and will pilot a Maxim entered by Guy Forbrook from Morgan, Minn.

Saturday night's 40-lap feature offers prize money totaling $166,600, with a $50,000 check awaiting the race winner, the largest paycheck of the 2004 USAC Sprint car season.

Jay Drake of Val Verde, Calif. enters the event as the Valvoline USAC National Sprint Car Series point leader and enjoys a 119-point lead in quest of his first USAC National driving championship. Cory Kruseman of Ventura, Calif., winner of the Valvoline USAC/CRA Sprint race at Alger, Wash. Friday night, ranks second, also seeking his initial USAC National title.

More than 70 entries had been received for the "Mopar Thunder at Eldora," which includes heat races, a C-main, B-main and the 40-lap finale. A total of 26 starters are targeted for the feature event on the 1/2-mile dirt oval.

Trailing Drake and Kruseman in the National standings going into the "Mopar Thunder" is 2004 Valvoline "Indiana Sprint Week" Champion Levi Jones of Olney, Ill., who would like to record his initial USAC feature victory in Saturday night's 40-lapper. His 2004 season has yielded no less than nine "top-five" finishes so far!

Practice at Eldora Speedway Saturday begins at 4 pm and racing starts at 8.
