JONES AND COONS TO DRIVE FOR R.E. TECHNOLOGIES
AT DuQUOIN AND ELDORA
Memphis, Tenn. -- August 30, 2005 -- Current USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car Series points leader Levi Jones will team up with 2005 Belleville Nationals Champion Jerry Coons Jr. and the R.E. Technologies Racing team for the final two USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series events of the season.
R.E. Technologies Racing Team Manager Chris Santucci announced today that Jones would pilot the No 135 Silver Crown™ car at the "Ted Horn 100" at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds on September 4th and at the "Four Crown Nationals" at Eldora Speedway on September 23rd and 24th.
"To be able to come into an established team and have a teammate like Jerry (Coons), it is a positive situation for me," smiled Jones.
Levi Jones will team with Jerry Coons Jr. who is piloting the No. 35 Curb Records/ Valvoline entry for the team this season.
"I get along well with Levi," said Coons. "I am sure we will work well together."
Levi Jones currently leads Jay Drake by 23 points in the USAC National Sprint Car Series division. The Olney, Illinois native became the 2005 O'Reilly Sprint Bandits "TNT" champion earlier this month when he nearly swept the Sprint Bandits "TNT" tour, winning all but one race in the series including the "Ultimate Challenge" at Southern Iowa Speedway.
Jones pilots the No. 2B Lucas Oil 2B Racing sprint car for Scott Benic in the USAC National Sprint Car Series. Benic will handle the crew chief duties on the No. 135 R.E. Technologies Silver Crown machine. Levi Jones' best Silver Crown finish to date came in 2004 at the "SUMAR Classic" were he grabbed the pole and finished second to Brian Tyler. He finished 5th in the Silver Crown division at the "Four Crown Nationals" in 2005.
