This Saturday's "Fall Harvest Classic" USAC races at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track have been postponed to Saturday night, October 20. Heavy rains in central Indiana on Friday and an extended forecast for additional rain Friday night necessitated the postponement.

Saturday's weather forecast notwithstanding, conditions at the Action Track deteriorated during Friday's rains, making efforts to prepare the track for Saturday's events futile.

The Stoops Freightliner Sprint Car and Dirt-Track Regional Midget Car Series will both compete on the 1/2-mile dirt track. Two Sprint car features are on tap, beginning with the 30-lap "Jan Opperman Classic" and concluding with the "Fall Harvest Classic" 30-lapper. A 25-lap Midget Car feature will conclude the 2001 Dirt-Track Regional series.

The October 20 timetable has spectator gates opening at 4 pm and practice starting at 5. The 30-lap "Jan Opperman Classic" which concludes the rain-interrupted July 28 Sprint Car program, is scheduled for 6:15 pm.

This event will mark the first time in 34 years that Terre Haute has hosted two USAC Sprint car features on the same night and the Midget race features a shootout between Dirt-Track title contenders Shane Hollingsworth and John Wolfe, who are separated by only three points.
