INDIANAPOLIS (August 5, 2004) A packed house at IRP were on their feet cheering on Jay Drake as he took the checked flag in the J. D. Byrider 100 Silver Crown race at IRP. This was the first win for Drake at Indianapolis Raceway Park and his third Silver Crown win in a row.

The team Drake drives for is owned by George Snider and NEXTEL Cup star Tony Stewart, and with their help Drake was able to dominate the race in every fashion. He was not only the fast qualifier but in the feature he led all 100-laps. Also adding support in the pits during the day was racing legend, A. J. Foyt.

"This is a dream come true for me," said Drake. "Being a kid in California racing TQ midgets these guys weren't real guys they were idols to me, guys you watched on T.V. they weren't real people. The success they have had in their careers has really bled of on me and the entire team."

For Drake the win at IRP was a long time coming.

"I've been snake bit for so long at IRP to win here is great," said Drake following the race. "And to have my boss (Stewart) say it was the smoothest 100 laps he has seen raced out here is a major compliment."

Racing continues on Friday with the running of the Power Stroke Diesel 200, featuring the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series as they bump and bang all the way to victory lane. The weekend concludes with the 23rd Annual Kroger 200, NASCAR Busch Series race. Past winners have included Brian Vickers, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Greg Biffle.
