East Continues Hot Streak with Win on Dirt at Twin Cities
Brownsburg, Ind. (July 14, 2009) -- Bobby East picked up his second straight USAC win by picking up his first checkered flag of the season on dirt in the 30-lap USAC National Midget Series feature at Twin Cities Raceway in North Vernon, Ind. East also won his last USAC race, a 50-lap Sprint Car Series event, at Toledo.
East drove the Klatt Enterprises No. 4 Ford Racing Technology/ClubSport/Beast Chassis Esslinger-Ford Beast underneath Tracy Hines on lap 25 and led the rest of the way to score his second National Midget Series triumph of the year. East won the Midget event at Thunder Hill Raceway in Kyle, Tex. in March.
"It's been a long time coming," East said in victory lane. "We've been snakebit in the Midget the past few weeks or so. We've had great cars but we've had rotten luck. It seems like it's been even rougher on us when we've been on the dirt. It's great to get the monkey off our back. The new Beast dirt midget we've been working on was just awesome tonight and our Ford engine was strong all night too. It's great to get back in victory lane on the dirt because we have some big races coming up and this gives us a real boost. We'd like to get another Belleville win, and there's Angell Park and Terre Haute too."
East returns to action in a USAC Silver Crown Series and National Midget Series double-header at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis on Thursday July 23. East is the defending winner of the annual Silver Crown race at ORP and this year marks the first time the Midgets have shared the race card with the Silver Crown cars.
