East Takes Lead with One Lap to Go to Win Anderson

Brownsburg, Ind. (April 12, 2010) -- Bobby East continued to put his mark on the 2010 USAC National Midget Series season by taking the victory in Sunday's 100-lap feature at Anderson Speedway. East drove the Klatt Enterprises No. 4 Ford Racing Technology/Beast Chassis Esslinger Ford-powered Beast around Darren Hagen coming to take the white flag at the tight quarter-mile to snag his second win of the season and third consecutive top-two finish. With the win, East now has more USAC wins than any other driver at Anderson.

"Anderson is a tough track but it's one of my favorites," East said. "Everything happens there so fast, but it can take a while to get around someone. We were behind Darren for a long time looking for a way to get around. It would have been great to get around earlier but that's not how it worked out. It was a 100 lap race and we used up 98 of them but that's fine by me. It's that last lap that counts."

East dedicated the victory to the memory of his grandfather, John Kennedy, who passed away on March 20.

"This one is for him," East said. "He was a big midget fan in the 1950s when they a real big deal out west and he used to take my mom to the races with him, and that's how she met my dad. He moved here to Brownsburg to help my dad get Beast Chassis up and running and he was a big supporter of my career from the time I started racing quarter midgets until he passed away. We miss him a lot and we all think about him every day and we hope to get a lot more wins for him this year."

With the victory, East jumps to the lead in the USAC National Midget Series championship standings, 22 points ahead of second-place Tracy Hines.

The next USAC National Midget Series event, the Kevin Doty Classic, is scheduled for April 30 at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Illinois. East returns to USAC Silver Crown Series and Sprint Car action on May 21-22 at Iowa Speedway.
