No. 3 Corvette and No. 911 Porsche suffer heavy damage at VIR

The teams now face a race against time.

Jan Magnussen and Richard Lietz  left the racing surface at the end of today's final practice for GT cars at VIR and suffered a lot of damage ahead of qualifying. The session was immediately red flagged.

Magnussen was checked and released from the infield medical center while Lietz was transferred to a local hospital for further evaluation. 

Fluid on the track is what apparently caused the incident. Lietz had spun and was sitting relatively okay off the course before the Corvette also lost control, impacting the driver's side door of the Porsche and causing significant damage.

The Porsche team tweeted that they will not finish repairing the car in time for qualifying and that they are 'evaluating their options for Sunday.'
