Madison, Wis. — Level 5 Motorsports has taken another big step toward solidifying its GT Daytona program for the upcoming 2014 season, in which they will field two Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 cars. Shortly after announcing the GTD program, Level 5 is now pleased to announce the addition of Jeffrey Segal to its 2014 line-up.

Since Level 5 unveiled its customer program and began actively pursuing drivers for the 2014 season, the response has been very positive, attracting interest from top talent from around the world. Segal, a two-time GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series GT class champion (2010, 2012) and GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge GS class champion (2007), adds another impressive résumé to a long list of accomplished drivers to have raced under the Level 5 banner.

“We’ve been very pleased with the response so far,” said team owner Scott Tucker. “Our goal is always to put ourselves in position to win championships. And, we have the resources, the expertise, and the track record to show that we can do just that. We’re very happy with the way things are shaping up for 2014.”

Equally valuable is the particular expertise that Segal offers when it comes to Ferraris. In recent years, he has been intricately involved in Ferrari’s GTD development program.

“Level 5's commitment to the Ferrari program in GTD allows me to bring a lot of hands-on experience to help jump-start their effort, given my recent involvement with the racing and development of that model in GRAND-AM,” Segal said. “Since Ferrari debuted that project for the 2012, season, we've done an incredible amount of development and evolution with the car, which has produced two straight championships in only the first two seasons of the project. I have been a part of this entire process with the car, so hopefully I can help Level 5 bypass some of the learning curve, and extract the best performance from their new cars from the start of the season.”

Segal is coming off a sixth-place finish in the 2013 GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series GT class driver standings and a fourth-place team finish. His hopes are high going into his first year with Level 5 Motorsports.

“I’m really looking forward to next year because I’ve basically seen Level 5 grow from nothing, when it was formed, up to what it is now, which is an internationally renowned championship-winning team,” Segal said. “Having seen that progression, that evolution, the chance to join a group of people like this with the experience that they have and a brand as prestigious and storied as Ferrari is a tremendous opportunity. I can’t see any reason not to be very enthusiastic about our prospects for next year.”

In addition to the GTD program, Level 5 has two entries in the Prototype Challenge class for the upcoming season. More information on that program is expected in the coming weeks.

Next on-track action for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship will be the Roar Before the 24 test session at Daytona International Speedway January 3-5, 2014. The session precedes the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona, which will be held on January 23-24, 2014.
