Flying prototypes: Westbrook and Barbosa OK after separate scary crashes

Richard Westbrook is OK after a scary crash that saw his Daytona Prototype get airborne and roll. In final session, Joao Barbosa also took air in the Action Express Racing DP Corvette.

Reports from the Daytona International Raceway say that the 90 Spirit of Daytona car, being driven at the time by Richard Westbrook became airborne and rolled at the track this morning during testing.

Due to the test session not being recorded, and no monitors at the track, reports are sketchy.

The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship tweeted that the driver is ok, and more reports are coming through slowly.

"Richard Westbrook, driver of the No. 90 Corvette DP, has been evaluated & released from infield care center following late session incident."

Westbrook was not the only Daytona Prototype driver to go airborne during testing today.

In the final session, Joao Barbosa also took air in the Action Express Racing DP Corvette. He also has been evaluated and released from the infield care center.

UPDATE: Word is that both drivers had a tire go down, which caused the air to get under the car lifting it off the ground and causing the roll over.
