Anderson, 56, is one of the most successful monster truck drivers in history, having competed in Monster Jam since 1982. The Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina native has four World Finals titles, three in the racing category and one in freestyle.

During last weekend's show in Tampa, Florida, he attempted a backflip that went awry with the truck landing upside down. Anderson was helped from the wreckage by paramedics before being transported to a local hospital for further evaluation (Crash video).

His son Adam released the following statement via Instagram regarding his condition, but avoided any specific details.

The younger Anderson gave another brief update on Tuesday, stating, "Just letting everyone know dad is getting better. Thanks again for all thoughtful words."
