Delhi T1 Prima: Powell wins thrilling opening race

Graham Powell came on top in a three-way fight to win the first Tata Prima truck race of the weekend at the Buddh International Circuit on Saturday.

Powell, multiple British Champion Matt Summerfield and pole-sitter Richard Collett crossed the finishing line three-wide, with Powell beating his rivals by one tenth and two tenths respectively.

David Jenkins finished 1.2 seconds behind the top-three runners and was chased hard to the finish line by Team Dealer Warrior’s Paul McCumisky.

Further back, Tony Smith from Tata Motors Finance finished a distant sixth, ahead of Ben Home and Ray Coleman in a eight-lap race.

Brian Burt and Adam Brint completed the top 10 for Tata Technologies Motorsports and Team Castrol Vecton respectively.

Oily Janes was the last driver to make it to the chequered flag, while Finland’s Simone Cole retired after the opening lap.
