Amy Ruman Back in Action to Run Round 9 of SCCA Trans-Am Series at VIR
Munroe Falls, OH -- Coming off a month long break from the racing circuit and her third place podium finish at HARRAH'S Autobahn Grand Prix presented by MAZDA on August 1, Ruman and the team will rejoin the SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Series at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) for the SCCA Pro Racing Sports Car Wars Weekend.
The team was not scheduled to run the Round 8 Labor Day weekend race at Brainerd, MN, but Ruman was able to maintain the fifth slot of the SCCA Pro Racing Trans-Am Championship driver standings heading into this race.
Drivers will take to the track starting Thursday, September 9th for a promoter's test day. The official event begins Friday with two practice sessions at 9:55 am and 2:40 pm, followed by one qualifying session Saturday afternoon at 3:50 pm. The Trans-Am race will start at 2:40 pm Sunday.
"All the other guys got to run last weekend's Trans-Am race, so I am really excited to get back in the car and join them. The month long break gave the crew time to super thoroughly go through the car after a very busy early season. The #23 McNichols Corvetteis well prepared and we are ready to race. I want to lock in my first Trans-Am win this season and what better place to try and do at than VIR. It is a challenging track and I like it a lot," commented Ruman.
