Butch Leitzinger Claims Third Victory of Year at Trois-Rivieres - Butch Leitzinger, in his Tommy Bahama Chevrolet Corvette, won today's Trans-Am Series 100 at Le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres, the seventh race of the Trans-Am Series for the BFGoodrich* Tires Cup. Leitzinger captured his third race of the season and fifth consecutive podium finish. The pole-sitter, Boris Said led the first 21 laps until he pitted for fuel relinquishing the lead to Leitzinger. Leitzinger pitted for fuel a few laps later and was able to hold onto the lead after exiting the pits. Leitzinger was challenged briefly by Said until a break problem forced Said back into the pits for repair. With Leitzinger cruising ahead, the battle for second was heated with Randy Ruhlman and Tomy Drissi staging a remarkable fight. Ruhlman finally was able to pass Drissi to take sole possession of second place. Leitzinger and Ruhlman made it a one-two finish for Tom Gloy Racing as Ruhlman posted his career best finish in Trans-Am racing after 121 career races. Rounding out the top five were Bob Ruman in fourth and Paul Gentilozzi in fifth.
Boris Said's Lead Shrinks in the Battle for the BFGoodrich* Tires Cup - With Butch Leitzinger's third victory of the season and Boris Said's ninth place finish at Trois-Rivieres, the gap between the two drivers has closed in the chase for the BFGoodrich* Tires Cup, the season-ending award presented to the Trans-Am Series Driver's Champion. Said currently leads the BFGoodrich* Tires Cup point standings with 198 points, while Leitzinger is close behind with 184 points. Paul Gentilozzi currently stands in third with 174 points, Johnny Miller is in fourth with 152 points and Randy Ruhlman holds fifth place with 136 points.
