CLEARWATER, Fla. (July 18, 2001) -- America's oldest road racing series will make its first live appearance ever on network television Saturday when CBS telecasts the Wine Country 100 at California's Sears Point Raceway.

The Trans-Am Series for the BF Goodrich Tires Cup has already had two successful tape-delayed telecasts this season on CBS, each earning an overnight 1.0 rating and two share. The ratings of the first telecast were higher than those earned by all other motorsports telecasts of that weekend except for two NASCAR events.

The CBS telecast of the Trans-Am Series event from Detroit earlier this season was the first network telecast of an event in the 36-year history of the series.

The 100-mile event from Sears Point will air at 2:30 p.m. (EDT).
