RANDY RUHLMAN STAYS IN THE HUNT FINISHES FOURTH AT ROAD AMERICA

ELKHART LAKE, Wisc. (Aug. 21, 2005) -- Randy Ruhlman overcame the flu to finish fourth and stay in the points Championship hunt today at the Rumble at the Road Trans-Am race at Road America. The Driver's Championship will be determined when the Series travels to Montreal next weekend for the final race of the 2005 season.

Starting from the outside of the front row, Ruhlman held the start and ran second, holding off first Mike Lewis and then a charging Klaus Graf. Ruhlman finally lost Graf, who made it to the front and never relinquished the lead. The top three, Graf, Pickett and Ruhlman, opened a distance on the pack, until just before a yellow flag when Gentilozzi took hold of third, then on to second. The top four drivers remained the same for the rest of the race with Ruhlman finishing on Pickett's bumper for a close fourth.

"I got a good start, and we clicked off fast laps all day. We all ran together pretty much the whole race and about the same pace. I felt ok in the car; it is pretty busy out there to think about anything else. The team gave me a fast car. We were actually faster than Pickett, but Greg was using up the whole track and making it impossible to get by him cleanly," said Ruhlman.

With just one race left in the season, both Ruhlman and Graf are the only drivers with multiple wins on the Trans-Am circuit. Ruhlman won at Long Beach and Cleveland, and Graf won today, at Denver and at Portland, where Ruhlman finished second.

Additionally, Ruhlman had a chance to appear live from the track in Wisconsin on the nationally broadcast SpeedFreaks radio show Saturday afternoon. This was his second appearance on the award winning show. He is also scheduled to appear on the Internet radio show www.sportstalkcleveland.com/ tomorrow Monday, August 22nd.

This weekend at historic Road America, Round Eight of the 2005 Trans-Am series, got under way on Sunday, August 21st at 10:20 AM CDT for 25 laps of the 4.048-mile track at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

Television coverage will be on SPEED TV at 3 PM EDT on Sunday, August 28th.
