Bobby Sak sets fastest time in fourth round at Puerto Rico.
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Bobby Sak continued his march to the front at the Puerto Rico Grand Prix as he set the fastest time in third-round practice for Sunday's Motorock Trans-Am Tour for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup race in San Juan. Sak, who's usual No. 10 Revolution Motorsports Chevrolet Corvette suffered damage during qualifying, hopped into father and team owner Don Sak's No. 2 Corvette and turned in a 1:05.604-minute lap at 87.800 miles per hour.
In fact, Sak, who qualified second earlier in the day, set the second fastest lap all weekend, just a tick off Scott Pruett's 1:05.471-minute pole speed in the No. 7 Motorock/Jaguar R Performance XKR. Jorge Diaz, Jr. (No. 8 Don Q Rum Jaguar XKR), Michael Lewis (No. 12 Westward Tools Available at Grainger Jaguar XKR), Wally Castro (No. 3 Puerto Rico Lottery Jaguar XKR) and John Baucom (No. 86 MAP Quality Engineering Jaguar XKR) completed the top five.
"We wanted to scrub in tires and feel out the balance between the two cars," said Sak. "I'm pretty pleased with the run and I am looking forward to tomorrow's race."
Tomorrow's Puerto Rico Grand Prix, Round 11 and the season finale for the Motorock Trans-Am Tour for the BFGoodrich Tires Cup, is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. AST. The race will air LIVE on SPEED Channel at 1 p.m. EST.
