Joey Scarallo Back for 2004 Season

LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 14, 2004) -- Joey Scarallo returns to the Motorock Trans-Am Series at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach for his second consecutive season. Scarallo will again drive the No. 6 Chevrolet Corvette sponsored by ROH Wheels, Group A/Autotrend, and Toyo tires.

The 2004 season brings a significant shift in direction for Scarallo. Scarallo will compete out of the Baucom Motorsports stable this season, teaming with 2003 BBS Most Improved Driver John Baucom. "My situation this year is the best I've been in with Baucom running the car," said Scarallo. "(Baucom) has done well with his car and this is my best chance to consistently do well.

"My goal is to finish top five in points at the end of the season, and I think this is a reasonable goal I can attain," added Scarallo.

A long-time racer, Scarallo has been in the driver's seat since he was 11, racing karts in the Long Island Karting Association where he won three championships in 1993. Scarallo won championships in the International Karting Federation in 1996, and he recorded three top-10 finishes in the U.S. F2000 where he finished 14th in series points. He ran a limited schedule in 1997, scoring 11th and 12th place finishes in his three starts. Scarallo competed in the Toyota Atlantic Series in 2000.

The oldest of four siblings, Scarallo, 25, lives in Smithtown, N.Y. Scarallo manages Autotrend Tire and Wheel Company Inc., his family's wheel importing business in Lindenhurst, N.Y.
