TEXACO GRAND PRIX OF HOUSTON GOLF TOURNAMENT: The Texaco Grand Prix of Houston, the NTB Trans-Am Series season finale, is hosting the Mayor’s Grand Prix Charity Golf Tournament, honoring Bobby Rahal, on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The tournament will be held at the famed Tour 18 golf course, with all proceeds benefitting the Houston-area Junior Achievement, The Fifth Ward Enrichment Program, Inc., “PALS”-Houston Police Activities League and the Education Foundation of Harris County.

The program begins at 11:00 a.m. with a lunch and concludes with the 6:00 p.m. Awards Reception. NTB Trans-Am drivers interested in participating must call John Clagett (303-694-7223) by Sept. 4.

NTB TRANS-AM SERIES DRIVERS’ POINTS: With two races remaining in the 1998 NTB Trans-Am Series schedule, Paul Gentilozzi, driver of the No. 3 AutoLink Chevrolet Corvette, holds a 51-point lead over his teammate Bill Saunders, 294 to 243. A ninth-place or better PPIR finish will clinch the Championship for Gentilozzi.

In the Rookie-Of-The-Year Standings, Chris Neville leads with 238 points (third overall), followed by Bruce Qvale and Ross Thompson (tied for sixth overall), 188. An eighth-place or better finish will earn Neville the top rookie honors.

Other drivers in the top-10 are John Miller IV, 227 (fourth); Brian Simo, 226 (fifth); Leighton Reese, 163 (eighth); Randy Ruhlman, 156 (ninth); and Michael Lewis, 153 (10th).
