Trans-Am qualifying for The MotoRock Mile High 100 was cancelled today due to torrential rains. The grid will be set based on yesterday's combined practice times.
Pruett will start from the pole position.
NOTE 1 --DENVER STATS...This is Pruett's first start on the current Denver circuit...Competed on the old Denver street circuit in 1991 in the Champ Car World Series race, finishing fifth.
NOTE 2 -- BACKGROUND STATS...Leads in the points standings...In 2003, has six wins (St. Petersburg, Mosport, Infineon Raceway, Cleveland, Trois-Rivieres, and Road America) in eight starts...Raced in the Winston Cup event at Watkins Glen, scoring a career-best second place...Competed in the Winston Cup race at Infineon Raceway finishing 24th due to contact while running sixth...Has two Trans-Am Drivers' Championships (1987, 1994)...In 2002, did not compete in the Trans-Am Series...Competed in Winston Cup Series in 2000... On the cancelled qualifying session ..."Wow, I haven't seen it rain that much in that short a period of time in a long time. It'll make things really interesting tomorrow. We'll go out in the morning on a green track. But then the Atlantics and Champ Car races will go before and we'll have significantly more rubber down for the race.
"We had a good car yesterday, but we still had planned to more a few more changes. I think we would have been in contention for the pole. And I want the pole...I want those records."
Miller, driver of the No. 64 Eaton Cutler-Hammer Jaguar XKR, will start fourth.
On the cancelled qualifying session... "I'm very disappointed that we did not get the opportunity to qualify today. We really wanted to put on a good show for the fans and our sponsor guests today.
"Our session tomorrow morning will basically a time to scuff tires. The track will vary a ton between our morning practice and the late afternoon race time, so we won't make any major changes based on the morning practice."
