(October 28, 2000) Leighton Reese (Minnetonka, MN) and the #66 Banner Racing Grand Prix are starting Sunday's Johnson Controls 100 race from Las Vegas, in the 13th position.

Rain hampered the initial two practice sessions on Friday. The morning session saw many teams, Banner Racing included, choosing not to chance incidents on the course by staying in the garage area and not taking to the track. The second session of the day, Leighton Reese and the #66 Pontiac Grand Prix collected a quick time of 1:21.105, which was good enough for an 11th position on the practice grid.

Reese was unable to get a clean lap throughout the entire qualifying session. On what should have been his fastest lap, he spun coming out of turn four, therefore knocking his time back a bit, qualifying with a time of 1:18.729. He still, however, is not far off of the pace. Boris Said in the #33 Mustang, hold pole position with a time of 1:17.077, followed by Kenny Wilden, Brian Simo, Stu Hayner, and Johnny Miller respectively. Qualifying times are very close. Fourth place through the 13th are separated by a mere 7/10 of a second. Sunday's round 11 of the SCCA BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series begins at 3:15 Pacific Time and may be viewed live on the Speedvision Network.
