(October 14, 2000) Leighton Reese (Minnetonka, MN) takes the #66 Banner Engineering/Phillips 66 entry to Monterey, CA for round 10 of the BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series.

Qualifying took place this afternoon at 11:45 am at the scenic track in the hills of Laguna Seca, CA. After approximately 5-6 decent laps, the session was black flagged due to Tomy Drissi in the #15 Mustang, spinning and ending up in the tire wall. The session ended with the black flag and checkered flag dropping at the same time.

Leighton will start 10th for Sunday's race after posting a time of 1:28.282 (91.262 MPH lap average). Canadian driver Kenny Wilden recorded his first Trans-Am pole position with a time of 1:26.810. Positions 2 through 15 are split by a scant 1.73 seconds over this storied natural road course.

The race tomorrow afternoon will be Round 10 of the 2000 BFGoodrich Tires Trans-Am Series. The race, scheduled to begin at 3:45 p.m., Pacific time, will be 45 laps of the 2.238-mile Laguna Seca circuit. The race may be seen on the Speedvision network Monday, October 16th at 8 pm, EST.
