British driver Oliver Jarvis has signed with Lexus in the Super GT series, sharing the ride with Hiroaki Ishiura.
Jarvis has been named as a driver with Audi for Spa and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the WEC.
"Audi has been fantastic about this and the precedent has been set with Andre (Lotterer) and Loic (Ducal) continuing to race in Japan,” Jarvis said on Autosport.com
"They only see it as a benefit if their drivers are busy competing in a professional and challenging environment."
Jarvis took part in the 24 Hours of Daytona last weekend, driving an Audi R8 LMS, and hopes to get behind the wheel of a TUDOR United SportsCar Championship car soon, but knows some rounds conflict with the Super GT campaign.
Jarvis said the opportunity was perfect to be able to compete in Super GT, and that the chance might not have surfaced again.
"With new cars in Japan and the programme that I will have with Audi, it made sense to do it now, because if I didn't it would probably never happen," he said.
The first round of the Super GT series will take place on April 6 at Okayama.
