Ukyo Katayama took the start in the No. 2 Nissan Skyline, which Michael Krumm qualified in 8th position for the sixth round of the Japanese GT Championship.
As the field headed towards the first corner, two of the Honda NSX's, No. 18 and 64, touched and the 64 car spun triggering a multi-car pile up which eliminated it and four other leading cars from the race, including the No. 2 Skyline.
"Today was very unfortunate for us, Ukyo had no where to go when the accident happened and we are out of the race. But it has been a good day for Nissan, Motoyama won and Eric was third which puts Nissan in a very strong position for championship honours" Michael commented
