Petropoulos scores solid finish at Peach State Speedway

Peter Petropoulos had a little fun this past weekend. The 25-year old driver from Flowery Branch, Ga. made his Peach State Speedway debut in Saturday night's 75-lap Pro Late Model event ran as part of the World Crown 300.

After an early spin, Petropoulos calmly picked his way to the front on the high-speed, 18-degree banked half-mile oval. As the checkered flag waved, Petropoulos' No. 28 Battle Paint & Drywall Chevrolet swept across the finish line in sixth place.

Despite narrowly missing out on a top-five finish in his first outing at the historic facility in Jefferson , Ga., Petropoulos did win the award for passing the most cars on the track.

The Battle Paint & Drywall team will now focus their energy toward winning the pole and the 150-lap Southern All Star Pro Late Model race on Saturday October 4 at Lanier National Speedway in Braselton, Ga. Petropoulos won the most recent SAS PLM race at Lanier on August 2.

Prior to running the feature event on Saturday, all drivers will participate in an autograph session on the midway located just above the grandstand at Lanier. The always-accessible Petropoulos is looking forward to meeting many of his fans.

Battle Paint and Drywall plans to return as primary sponsor on Petropoulos' No. 28 in 2004. An official announcement outlining the team's itinerary will be forthcoming.
