Zeck to Run Odessa for Herzog Motorsports
SUSSEX, Wis. (June 11, 2001) - Ryan Zeck has never visited the state of Missouri. That will all change this weekend when the 25-year-old California-native makes his debut in the "Show Me State" in this weekend's American Speed Association (ASA) event. The ASARacing.com 300 will be held this Saturday from the fast and high-banked asphalt of I-70 Speedway.
Zeck will be making his ASA debut in front of a crowd of Herzog Motorsports supporters, as the owners of the team, Bill, Randy and Stan Herzog own a multi-million dollar, national contracting firm just minutes away from the racing facility. Zeck is ready for the added pressure of the hometown crowd and can't wait to show his competitors his driving skills.
"I have never raced at I-70, but it is similar to several tracks that I have seen. It isn't anything new for me to go to a track for the first time, and be able to be competitive," stated Zeck. "I hear that Howie Lettow [crew chief for Herzog Motorsports] is legendary, and I am really excited to get the opportunity to work with him."
Zeck, himself, might be able to show the team a thing or two, as he currently works full-time for the No. 88 Winston Cup team of Dale Jarrett. Ryan Zeck gained much of his technical experience while earning his engineering degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Zeck headed East to North Carolina when he became the inaugural recipient of the prestigious Alan Kulwicki Memorial scholarship for engineering students with an interest in racing.
Not only does Zeck have the education to support his love of racing, but he also has amassed 30 victories during his 15 years of racing. He has cut laps in the American Racing Association (ARA), the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA), and the competitive Late Model stock cars.
In what seems to be a game of "musical drivers", Herzog Motorsports has a method to their madness by putting the sixth new driver in the No. 22 seat this season. The team is actively seeking new driving talent for the 2002 season.
Herzog Motorsports is a successful, championship-winning race team. Based in St. Joseph, Mo.; Charlotte, N.C.; and Milwaukee, Wis., Herzog Motorsports fields teams in the NASCAR Busch Series, and the American Speed Association.
This weekend's race will be held in Odessa, Mo., just minutes from St. Joseph, Mo., the hometown of team owners Bill, Randy, and Stan Herzog. The ASARacing.com 300 will be held this Saturday, June 16. The 300-lap feature will be broadcast live on The National Network (TNN) at 9:00 p.m. EST.
