COLUMBUS, Miss. (Sunday) Donnie Barnhart of Little Rock, Ark., won $3,000 and the fifth annual James King Memorial, a race at Columbus Speedway shortened to 50 laps after the scheduled Friday and Saturday night programs were rained out. Eddie Rickman finished second while Steve Russell, Mike Boland and Rick Rickman rounded out the top five on the quarter-mile oval in eastern Mississippi. Last year's race winner, Johnny Stokes of Columbus, ended up eighth.

SOUTHERN UNITED PROFESSIONAL RACING: Polesitter Brady Adams got his first-ever SUPR victory, inheriting the checkered flag when David Ashley weighed in too light at the scales Saturday night at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas. Local driver Junior Taylor raced from his 13th-starting spot to finish second, while Doug Ingalls Sr., Marlon Wild and Ronny Adams rounded out the top five. Mike Boland, Scott Slay, Robert Litton, Butch Patton and Eddie Taylor finished sixth through 10th. Saturday's event was the only SUPR race of the weekend as Thursday's event at Devil's Bowl Speedway and Friday's event at North Texas Speedway were rained out. Next SUPR race: April 12, Boothill Speedway, Shreveport, La.
