VERNON, NY - The Pure Stock division at the New Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon will have a special 15-lap $400 to win Mr. Pure Stock title event on Sunday September 17. Also scheduled are the ELS Sprint Cars and Slingshots, plus the rained out Pure Stock final points feature from September 3 and high-paying title races for the Sportsman and Pro Stock divisions. Race time is set for 5pm.

Dave Mannise just needs to start the first 15-lap feature to become the 2000 track champion in the Pure Stock division, which would be his eighth title overall.

The driver that wins the second race will earn the title of Utica-Rome Mr. Pure Stock 2000. Dave Mannise has held the "Mr. Pure Stock" nickname over the years because of his dominance of the division, but now, that title is up for grabs at Utica-Rome on September 17 for the $400 to win special. Can any driver steal that title from Mannise and have bragging rights for the rest of the 2000 season?

Drivers challenging Mannise for the win will be 2000 Fulton Speedway Track Champion Chad Ray, plus other top runners such as Jeff Pastorella, Mark Effner, Jim Thomas in his brand new Camaro No. 140, Waylan Wilczek, and youngster Bobby Newman.

The lineup for the first feature will go off as scheduled from September 3. Heat lineups for the $400 to win feature will be determined by a draw at the main gate, and the feature will be lined up by a redraw, held after the heat events.

The New Utica-Rome Speedway is a Sunday family tradition in the Mohawk Valley, and you can be a part of it as the racing season winds down for 2000. The gates on Sunday September 17 will open at 2pm and racing will begin at a special time of 5pm. The speedway is located just 20 minutes west of Utica on Route 5 in Vernon, and it is easily accessible from NYS Thruway Exit 33. Free parking and overnight camping is allowed on speedway grounds.
