Utica-Rome Speedway Makes Decision Concerning Conflicting Pro Stock Events
VERNON, NY- With the Empire Sports Network Super DIRT Series for the Pro Stocks having two events that conflict with scheduled point events at Utica-Rome Speedway, speedway management has made a decision that will not hurt a competitors chances in the speedway's point chase or their pursuit of the series title. Any driver that either competes at the speedway on the night of the conflict in a non-point event or attempts to qualify in the Super DIRT Series event will be awarded 35 points towards the track's point standings.
"Some of our drivers have shown some interest in running the series in the past," stated General Manager Chip Burdick "but with some of the events conflicting with our shows, they always had a decision to make. This way, they can compete on the tour and we can still put on a show at the speedway without dropping the class for the evening." This means a team can run the series without losing ground in the Utica-Rome Speedway point standings, and the speedway can still expect most of its cars on the night of the conflicting events. The first night this will come into play is this coming weekend on May 16 when the series has a date at the Rolling Wheels Raceway, and then again on August 22 when the tour has stop at the Cornwall Motor Speedway. On May 16, Pro Stocks teams, barring any weather problems, may be able to compete at both speedways if they choose to do so. Any Pro Stock team that will attempt to compete in both events can call Chip Burdick at (315) 725-5709 to express their interest.
