VERNON, NY- In an effort to streamline its racing program for the upcoming 2006 race season, Utica-Rome Speedway will drop the Four Cylinder Super Stock division from the regular Sunday night race program lineup. The weekly racing program at Utica-Rome Speedway will consist of the 358-Modifieds, Sportsman, Pro Stocks, Pure Stocks, and IMCA Modifieds.

The Four Cylinder Super Stock division was added to Utica-Rome Speedway's weekly program in 2004 and after a season of disappointing car counts, speedway management decided to prepare the smaller inner track on a weekly basis for them to compete on for the 2005 season. By moving the division off the large half mile oval to the smaller inner track that better suited the class, it was that car counts would improve. While the racing action in the division was vastly improved in 2005, participation in the division did not. The decision to drop the division from the weekly lineup was not an easy one and Utica-Rome Speedway officials apologize for any inconvenience this decision may cause.

The Four Cylinder Super Stocks will have at least one appearance at the famed Vernon oval on 2006. The Pumpkin Pie Classic that was originally scheduled for October 2005 will be run on April 30 and the Four Cylinder Super Stocks will join the Patriot Sprint Group, CNY Mini Sprints, Sportsman, Pure Stocks, and Pro Stocks for the opening event of 2006 at the speedway.

Utica-Rome Speedway will first open its gates on Sunday April 23 for a Test and Tune session open to all division.
