STUART, VA (September 21, 2000) -- Jon Wood and his No. 116 Ford Taurus head to Greenville-Pickens Speedway for Saturday night's Hooters ProCup main event. Wood, currently 7th in the championship standings, looks to gain some ground in the point's race on the fast, half-mile speedway.
"It's been two years since I've raced at Greenville-Pickens Speedway," stated Wood. "I ran a Legacy car there and I really liked the track. We tested our Hooters car at Greenville so we'd be prepared for this weekend. We were the fastest car at the test session and I'm optimistic we can have a solid finish this weekend.
"I'm not happy with where we've been finishing and our biggest obstacle has been qualifying. We had a good car last week but I qualified in the middle of the pack and I was in the first wreck because of track position. We have to do a better job at qualifying inside the top-10 if we want a shot at winning one of these last five races.
"Greenville is a very tough race track and I'd say it is the toughest track to find the fastest line. I think we were successful in doing that at the test so hopefully it will pay off for us. I really believe we have a team capable of winning a race before the season is over. When I started the year I wanted to win races and be competitive. So far, we've been competitive but we haven't won yet. The guys on the crew have done a great job and a win would be the best way to reward them for all their hard work."
The 250-lap event is scheduled to start on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and will be televised nationally by Speedvision on October 1, 2000 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
