Thomasville, NC - 17-year-old Brian Vickers and BLV Motorsports were crowned 2000 USAR Hooters ProCup Series "Rookie of the Year" this past Saturday night at USA International Speedway in Lakeland, FL after qualifying third and running a conservative tenth in the Alan Kulwicki Memorial Hooters 300.

"We fought tooth and nail all year long with Clayton (Rogers) and Jon (Wood). It came down to the last event of the year to decide who the honors would go to. I would like to thank my crew and all the help which we had this year. Everyone involved did a great job. I would also like to thank Clay and Jon, as well as all of the other rookie drivers and their crews for being great competitors all year long. It was an honor and privilege to compete with them."

"We were able to finish third in the overall series championship," continued Vickers. "That is a pretty big accomplishment for us competing against the likes of Bobby Gill, Mario Gosselin, and Hal Goodson all year. These guys, along with a lot of other series competitors, have been doing this a lot longer than we have."

Vickers' stats for the 2000 season included: 2 time event winner, the youngest winner in the history of the USAR Hooters ProCup Series, 3 time Miller Lite "Rookie of the Race" winner, and 2 time Lucas Oil Products "Halfway Leader" award recipient. The team finished the season with 14 top-10 finishes in 20 starts.

The Alan Kulwicki Memorial Hooters 300 will be aired on Speedvision Sunday, December 3rd at 8:00pm. You can find out more about Brian and BLV Motorsports at www.brianvickers.com.
