Following two weeks of intense rebuilding from the Winchester Wreckfest, the Jimmy Burns Motorsports/Jackaroo Barbecue Sauce sponsored team was ready to tackle the high banks of Salem Speedway in Salem, Indiana for the Naturally Fresh Foods 250.
After spending much of their practice time working on race setup, the team was pleased to turn in the 11th fastest time in qualifying and felt they had a great handling car for the long runs. Early in the race, Jimmy found himself racing with Jay Fogelman and Charlie Ford for the 10th position. On lap four, repeated contact with #88 of Gerald Davis coming off the fourth turn and down the front stretch would end up sending the Jackaroo car spinning and eventually hit hard into the turn one wall, driver's side first. The driver was fine, but the car was heavily damaged. "I thought I gave the 88 room on the outside, but apparently he slipped and got into the wall coming off the corner and we bumped a few times going down the front straightaway. He finally came off the wall and got into my right rear hard enough to spin the car around and I hit pretty hard. It is a shame, we had a top five car today and now we have a torn-up racecar two weeks in a row," said Jimmy following the incident. Following the wreck, the JBM team worked diligently to get the car fixed enough to get Jimmy back out on the track at lap 130, completing enough laps to gain four positions. The team finished 18th.
The Jackaroo team will head home to rebuild their equipment in preparation for the next USAR Hooters Pro Cup Northern Division event on Saturday, July 4th, at the newly repaved Kilkare Speedway in Xenia, Ohio.
During the pre-race autograph session at Salem Speedway, Jimmy and team members enjoyed meeting many enthusiastic fans while handing out sample size containers of Jackaroo Barbecue Sauce. One fan commented on the Frank Farrell Trucking logo proudly displayed on the C-pillars of the #92, and that she has seen the Farrell Trucks on the road and was glad to see their involvement with the JBM Team. Frank Farrell Trucking specializes in flat bed and tank trailer hauling in the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York area.
