Turner Motorsports Rookies Look to Find Luck in the Peach State
Buescher and Helton Back in Pro Cup Action at Peachstate Speedway
CONCORD, NC (May 25, 2007) -- Ready or not it's time to go racing again in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series, and the Turner Motorsports Team is more than ready.
Rookies James Buescher and Gary Helton have been gearing up for the event at Peachstate Speedway for a month now, and the time has come to get back into action. They have already impressed this season by bringing home solid finishes each time they head out.
"We have had a few weeks off and we have just been getting ready for Peachstate," said Buescher. "We have still been working just as hard, even though we haven't been racing. We had a good test I think that we will be pretty good at Peachstate."
In preparation for the event, the team has held recent test sessions that have helped both drivers get ready for the half-mile Georgia track.
"Peachstate is a good track," said Helton. "I have been there before back when the Southern All-stars used to run there in the straight rail cars. We have been there a couple times in the past and ran pretty well.
"The test went really good for the Pro Cup cars. We learned several things, and both cars ended up pretty good. Peachstate is a great track; it is a racing track. It is definitely a place you can race at. I think that we are both going to have really good cars, and I don't see why we wouldn't be up front next week."
Buescher was able to take advantage of the knowledge that his teammate Helton had and put it to good use in his test session, since it will be his first-ever appearance at the Georgia track.
"It was my first time at the track, but I really did like it," said Buescher. "It wears out the tires just as much as Pensacola [Five Flags Speedway] and that is one of my favorite tracks to go to, so I think that Peachstate will be a little similar to that.
"Like I said, I had never been there before, but Gary had raced there before and he was able to give me some good pointers on how to drive the track. He also showed me where some good places are to try and get by others cars; I think that we will be pretty good come race day."
This will be the fourth event on the Southern division schedule, and the team put up solid performances in the first three events. But as they head into this next event, the team isn't going there to finish second.
"I think that both our cars are really good and that we will be up front," added Buescher. "We have had good cars all year long; we just haven't really had the results to show it other than Lakeland. At Georgia and Concord we both had good cars; things just happened that threw off our results.
"We are going to Peachstate looking for a win. We aren't really points racing right now. We would like to win Rookie of the Year, but right now we are just focusing on winning some Pro Cup races for Turner Motorsports."
The Turner Motorsports team will have their next chance at victory when the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series returns to action on Saturday, June 2nd, at Peachstate Speedway (GA). Racing will get underway at 7:30 pm, and all USAR Hooters Pro Cup Races can be seen on SPEED Channel.
