Concord, NC: While 18-degrees of banking is a bit less than what David Stover is accustomed to, the 23-year-old Pro Cup rookie is eager to drive his first event next week at the New Smyrna (FL) Speedway.

Stover, who garnered NASCAR Late Model Rookie of the Year honors at the I- 70 (MO) Speedway last season, admits a banked track better suits his driving style.

"I really thrive on being able to drive it in (the corners) deep," said Stover, "that feeling of thinking you have to get out of the gas, when you don't really have to, is what makes it so much fun." Stover had mastered the Missouri racetrack which boasted 30-degrees of banking in the turns.

The third event of the 2003 USAR Hooters Pro Cup season finds young driver 18th in the current standings and he looks toward New Smyrna as a means to advance his status.

"Each week we're all learning," Stover explained, "and New Smyrna will be another great experience for us. We are exactly where we expected to be at this point - making the races, being competitive and taking one event at a time."

Shaw Industries, Dupont Stainmaster, Racing Electronics, Autobet.us, KAR Products, Dayco and Suburban Lodge sponsor MJ Motorsports.
