Joey Coulter Sets Sights on Myrtle Beach

Joey Coulter believes he's poised to have a great run in the Oct. 6 running of the Mark Brooks Memorial Naturally Fresh 250 USAR Hooters Pro Cup Championship Series event at Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Speedway.

"It's a tough track, "said the 17-year-old rookie from Miami Springs, Fla., "but I think we'll be in good shape."

Coulter is encouraged by the performance of the Tempest Cycles/Darrell Gwynn Foundation Ford No. 1s at Iowa Speedway.

"We had a good weekend in Iowa," Coulter said. "We practiced at the bottom of the chart, but qualified 19th. We were up to 10th at one point, but we ran over an air hose in the pits and got two laps down."

While attempting to race and get laps back Coulter actually recorded the fastest lap of the race, a 23.66 -- the pole was a 23.60.

"We ended up 25th, but we had a top-10 car for sure," Coulter observed. "We learn more every time we go out on the track, and we're really clicking as a team. It just feels like everything's coming together, and I think Myrtle Beach will be the place it happens."
