"SUPER MARIO" NAMED CREW CHIEF FOR FAULK
"Veteran Racer Brings Experience To Rookie Driver And Team"
OCALA, FL (April 20, 2005) -- MB3 Motorsports is pleased to announce that veteran racer Mario Gosselin has been added to their organization as crew chief for their entry in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series. Gosselin will lead rookie driver Michael Faulk and his No. 53 "Liftoff" by Herbalife Ford as they take on the competition in the Southern Division of the USAR and into the Championship Series races.
"I think that this is a great deal for me and this team," stated Faulk. "This is the final piece of the puzzle that we needed to raise us from a contender to a winner. Mario has a tremendous amount of experience and that is really helping my learning curve in this series. We have worked together these last few races and we communicate very well with each other and the guys on the team really respect and follow his leadership. In addition to being that leader, Mario is a tireless worker and he actually even spends a few nights sleeping in the shop. This is just an extremely positive move for me and this team."
Mario is a 2-time USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series Champion and multiple winner on the ARCA RE/MAX Series. He began his racing career in 1990 at Hialeah, FL by winning their "Pure Stock Division" Championship. He moved into Late Models the very next year and has multiple championships and many wins to his credit at various speedways in the years since then. Recently he won at the new Nashville Superspeedway in the ARCA/REMAX series in 2003 and finished 3rd in the March 2005 race. Other highlights include his amazing feat of qualifying on the pole and going on to win in his very first ARCA start - coming at none other than the Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C. Mario also has two starts in the Nextel Cup Series in the 2004 season and a total of three starts in the NASCAR Busch Series.
"I am really looking forward to working with Michael Faulk and this MB3 Motorsports team", said Mario. "I appreciate the opportunity that Michael & Michelle Burton have given me and I will give my best to take them to No. 1. This race team has top of the line equipment with dedicated employees and together we can achieve our goals of helping Michael Faulk win that rookie award as well as collecting a few wins along the way."
Faulk and his MB3 Motorsports team are coming off a career best fifth place finish last week at Peach State as they head into the event this week at the Concord Motorsports Park (CMP). The 23-year old rookie currently sits 12th in the overall driver's standings and leads the highly competitive Miller Lite Rookie of the Year battle.
Faulk and his new crew chief will be in action this weekend as they head to CMP for the running of the Turn 4 Pizza presented by Tucson on Saturday night.
