MYRTLE BEACH, SC -- The USAR Hooters ProCup Series visits the beautiful Mansfield Motorsports Speedway in Mansfield, OH this Saturday night for the running of the Simonson Builders & Simonson Excavation 250. This will be the first visit for the 3,300-pound, steel-bodied stock cars to the track located between Cleveland and Columbus, OH.

The race will be somewhat of a homecoming for Pickerington, Ohio driver Lonnie Rush, Sr. Rush, who has competed in the USAR Hooters ProCup Series Northern Division looks forward to racing close to home this weekend. Rush commented at a press conference at the track last fall about racing close to home.

"Living so close will give my family a chance to see us at the track and the work done at the track has made this a nice facility to host the Series," Rush said. "It should be a great race for the fans."

The track has undergone extensive renovations and the USAR Hooters ProCup Series will be its first of two stops in the state of Ohio in 2003. Kil-Kare Speedway in Xenia will host the Series on Friday night July 4th.

Brian Ross won the first Northern Division race of the season and Jay Fogleman won the second race of the year for the northern drivers last weekend at Lonesome Pine Raceway. Ross, from neighboring Indiana, enters this weekend as one of the favorites, while Fogleman enters on a hot streak.

"We had a great car (Saturday)," said Fogleman. "From what I hear about Mansfield it is a fast track and you will need a good handling race car. Hopefully we can get the Lucas Oil Ford in victory lane two weeks in a row."

Front gates for spectators will open at 11 am on Saturday when Hooters ProCup practice begins. Qualifying for the ProCup cars will begin at 4:30 pm with an autograph session beginning 5:45 pm. The Simonson Builders & Simonson Excavation 250 will start at 7 pm followed by a 30 lap E-Modified race. For more information contact USAR or Mansfield Motorsports Speedway.
