Lake Erie Speedway Ready for the Miller Lite 250

Myrtle Beach, SC - For the third consecutive year Lake Erie Speedway is ready to host the Miller Lite 250 presented by Longhorn Hooters Pro Cup Series race this Friday night, June 30 and Benny Gordon hopes to continue his winning ways in the northern division contest.

Gordon, winner of the past two races in the division at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway and O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, hopes to make it back-to-back wins at the track located along Lake Erie in North East, Pennsylvania. Gordon was able to hold off Gary St. Amant last year at Lake Erie to get the win. Gordon has not finished outside the top-three in any northern division race this season will be one of the favorites this Friday night.

St. Amant won the inaugural Hooters Pro Cup Series event at Lake Erie in 2004 and with his second-place finish last year seems to have the tight .375-mile track's driving line figured out. Although St. Amant is with a new team in 2006, the veteran feels he has a good chance to get his second career Pro Cup win.

"Lake Erie is a track that seems to fit my driving style," said St. Amant. "Hopefully we can keep it going for us up there and maybe get our first win of the year."

While Gordon has been able to build his points lead to over 200 points over second-place Jeff Agnew (1,130-925), there is still a tight race within the top-10. Jack Bailey used his fourth-place showing at ORPI to move into third place in the standings just one point ahead of Johnny Rumley (881-880), while Woody Howard sits in fifth just 16 points behind Rumley at 864.

A J Frank sits sixth in the standings with 789 points and leads Shelby Howard by just one point (789-788). Eric Corbett currently stands in eighth place with 782 points and leads ninth-place L W Miller by just three points (782-779).

An autograph session for the fans will begin at 6:45 pm and the Miller Lite 250 is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. For more information please contact Lake Erie Speedway at 814-725-3303.
