Joey Coulter Grabs Solid Top-Five Finish in Iowa

Huntersville, N.C., September 23, 2008 - Joey Coulter drove the Tempest Cycles/Darrell Gwynn Foundation Ford No. 02s to a solid top-five finish in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Race2Recovery 225 at Iowa Speedway Sept. 20.

The 18-year-old Florida native qualified seventh, led a lap, and finished fourth in the second of four Pro Cup Championship Series events. It was Coulter's third top ten finish this season.

"The whole weekend the car was ridiculously fast," said Coulter, who was fourth-fastest in practice earlier in the day. "My crew chief, Todd Myers, and everybody on the team gave 100 percent all weekend. It was cool to practice up front, qualify up front and race up front."

Coulter ran in the top five and top 10 throughout the race.

"We kept going from the back after a pit stop to the front again," Coulter said, observing that it was the first race on a brand new Hess chassis. "Everything was awesome, and PME sure gave us some killer horsepower."

The finish vaulted Coulter to 11th in the points, 15 points outside the top 10. With two races remaining on the Pro Cup schedule, a top 10 finish in points is an obtainable goal.

"I'm really looking forward to Southern National Raceway Park," Coulter said. "I think of it as my home track, and we found some things that should help us have a great run. And everybody's really excited about the final race at Rockingham, because we're going to take the same car we had at Iowa."
