Hindsight - Brian Ross and car owner Darin Odle made a call late in final practice that they would regret.

``We put a filter on the rear end to keep the trash out,'' said Odle. ``We thought the fitting was to small, and Brian thought so too. We put it on anyway. That just goes to show you to go with your first thoughts.''

Ross finished the race in 28th position.

Victory Vow - Unless he's standing in victory lane, Hal Goodson isn't satisfied. And that didn't change at Illiana Motor Speedway. Despite finishing third, Goodson wasn't overly enthused with his run.

``Second sucks, and third is worse. But we'll take third. We've had some motor problems this year, but this gets us in the right direction,'' said Goodson, who finished 26th at South Boston after breaking a rocker arm.

``Track position was key tonight. If we had got out front, we would have been all right, but we didn't get a shot at it.''

Rookie Race - It wasn't hard to find Scott Baker after the Miller Lite 250. He was the guy with the ear-to-ear grin floating threw the tech-line.

``There was a lot of attrition tonight, but we still had a good car,'' said an ecstatic Baker. ``The pit crew made up few positions tonight, but we were able to maintain position tonight.''

Baker's fourth-place finish was his best since finishing second at Winchester Speedway earlier this season.

The Fogleman Five - For the sixth time in 2003, Jay Fogleman finished in the top five. Though not up to his standards, Fogleman did gain points in the standings for his fifth-place finish.

``We're having little problems that are keeping us from winning,'' said Fogleman. ``You just can't be off a little bit off anymore with competition the way it is. But it was a good run, and we gained some points.''
