KENLY, NC - RIS - Mario Gosselin and Southern National Speedway in Kenly, NC seem to be made for each other as Gosselin powered his way to his second win in as many tries on the high banked 4/10 mile asphalt oval. Gosselin, who won the Hooters Late Model 200 at Kenly last year, grabbed the lead 103 laps from the end and fought off persistent challenges to emerge victorious in the United Speed Alliance Racing Jackaroo 250 for the Jackaroo ProCup cars.

"This win is a tribute to our whole crew," Gosselin stated from Victory Lane. "It was tough out there all night. We're real happy to win this one."

Driving the Jackaroo Chevrolet, Gosselin started the race from the outside pole, but it was polesitter Gene Morgan in the Valenite/Hunter's Specialty Ford that took the early lead and held it for the first 61 laps. Morgans time of 16.014 seconds at an average speed of 89.921 mph was the fastest of the 39 cars on hand to attempt to make the 32 car starting lineup. Morgan surrendered the lead when his crew had a miscue on pit road and eventually finished in ninth spot.

Throughout the race the battle at the front was intense as Lee Tissot and Chad Chaffin battled Morgan and Goselin for position. The retirement of Morgan only intensified the battle and despite leading a majority of the laps Gosselin was under constant pressure.

The intensity of the battle came to a head on the final lap when Tissot, trailing Chaffin who was running in second, hit the rear of Chaffin's N&S Car Parts Ford in turn one. Tissot was able to continue and brought the Tissot Racing Enterprises Chevrolet home for second, while Chaffin was forced to settle for sixth.

Les Lesneski was able to take advantage of Chaffin's misfortune to move into the third finishing position while behind him Brad May also moved up a notch to fourth, Jack Morais rounded out the top five.

Chaffin came home in sixth, the last car on the lead lap, and Charlie Ford , Jerry Rector, Morgan, and Robin Caldwell followed him home to record top ten finishes.

The next event for the USAR Jackaroo ProCup Series will be Sunday, May 25th at Fairgrounds Speedway in Birmingham, AL.
