Carter Heads Home to Hickory with Whole New Outlook

Travelers Rest, SC: Matt Carter, the reigning Hooters ProCup Series Miller Lite Rookie of the Year and 2003 Hickory Motor Speedway Track Champion, heads into his hometown race on the Southern Division schedule driving a new car, sporting a new number-he's driving for a new team.

After much consideration, Carter and his former team, Ricky Benton Racing, mutually and officially parted ways following their eighth place effort at Myrtle Beach. Carter's new team is Hawk Racing, owned by Bobby Hawkins.

"I'm really excited to driver for these guys. My teammate is Toby Porter, he'll continue driving the number 13 car and I'll be driving the number 03. We will test at Greenville this week to get ready for the Hickory race. I'm really excited to head back to my hometrack this weekend," said Carter.

Carter's also very confident on his outlook throughout the rest of the season.

"My dad is the only thing that's coming with me to this new team-he'll still be my spotter. Everything else will be new. I think it's going to work out best for everybody. I had a great time running with RBR and I'm hoping that we'll all find success with our new team situations," Carter said.

The sophomore in the Hooters ProCup Series is heading into this weekend seventh in points with five top-tens and two top-five finishes.
