WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (April 23, 2001) -- Hal Goodson heads into this weekend's USAR ProCup Series Southern Division action at Coastal Plains Raceway (Jacksonville, N.C.) fresh off a victory two weeks ago at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, N.C.
Just like with Ace Speedway, Goodson has never raced at Coastal Plains Raceway. "We came down here and tested last week, but the rain came and washed out most of our practice session," Goodson said. "I have never raced here before, but I'm beginning to like racing on tracks that I've never been too."
Goodson heads into the event with three top-10 finishes and one victory to his credit during the first four races of the season. The driver of the No. 45 Taylor Motorsports entry currently sits fourth in Southern Division standings.
"The win at Ace gave this team the momentum that we were looking for," the Darlington, S.C. native said. "We've had strong runs this season and were able to have everything come together at Ace. I'm confident heading into this weekend's race that we will have a car that is capable of running up front and contending for the win."
The next few weeks will be very busy for Goodson and the entire Taylor Motorsports team as they prepare to enter the NASCAR Busch Series event at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway on May 4. This will mark the first of four events the team will enter this season in preparation for running a full NASCAR Busch Series schedule in 2002.
Qualifying for the USAR ProCup Series Naturally Fresh Dressings 200 presented by Rolling Rock at Coastal Plains Raceway is set for 5:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, April 28. The green waves two hours later at 7:30 p.m. EST.
