ASHBURN, VA (March 13, 2002) - TEAM ASE and CAPITOL MOTORSPORTS have teamed up for the 2002 HOOTERS USAR PRO CUP season. The CAPITOL MOTORSPORTS two-car team of Jimmy McLain and Boyd Long will promote the TEAM ASE Grass Roots Motorsports program and ASE through out the northeast in the USAR PRO CUP North Division. ASE a national, non-profit organization, was founded in 1972 to help improve the quality of automotive service and repair though the voluntary testing and certification of automotive technicians. Almost 420,000 ASE-certified professionals work in dealerships, independent shops, service stations, auto parts stores, fleets, schools and colleges.
"We are very excited to carry the TEAM ASE BLUE SEAL banner on our cars and look forward to promoting the ASE Certified Automotive Professional program" said Boyd Long driver of the team #32 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
"ASE has set the standard in the automotive industry since 1972 and we look forward to carrying on that tradition this season " stated Jimmy McLain driver of the team #33 Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
In the early days of racing, the driver was often recognized as the main reason for a team's success. Recently, the crew chief and crew have been acknowledged as equally important in creating a winning situation for every race team.
A parallel exists between racing and the automotive service industry. Similar to the way a crew chief and crew must deliver a satisfactory product to the driver in order to win the race, an employer and the technicians in a service and repair shop must satisfy the needs of their customer in order to create return business.
Being competitive on the racetrack is important to TEAM ASE because ASE is in itself a standard of excellence. However, TEAM ASE's success in motorsports is not solely measured by pole positions, top-five finishes or by slapping hundreds of decals on racecars. There is much more to the TEAM ASE program.
TEAM ASE is also:
Student outreach program that encourages young people to explore careers in the automotive industry.
A grassroots motorsports program that has nearly 650 teams, each with an ASE-certified technician as a crewmember or driver. All together, the teams compete in over 17,000 local events across the country.
An outreach program that teaches consumers what to look for and how to choose automotive service repair shops.
Communicating the benefits of ASE-certification to consumers and trade media using unique sponsorship alliances.
TEAM ASE CAPITOL MOTORSPORTS will start the season at Jennerstown Pennsylvania in the NATURALLY FRESH 250 on April 13th and to be televised on the SPEED CHANNEL April 18th At 9:00 pm EST.
