Joey Coulter Looks Forward to Bristol

Joey Coulter looks forward to taking on the high banks of Bristol Motor Speedway on Aug. 22 for the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Southern Division Food City 150 presented by Naturally Fresh.

The 17-year-old rookie from Miami Springs, Fla., recently tested the Tempest Cycles/Darrell Gwynn Foundation Ford No. 02s at Bristol after a solid run in his last race at Hickory Motor Speedway, where he finished 15th.

"I had a blast running out there," Coulter said of Hickory, noting that by the end of the race he was turning laps as fast as the leaders. "The car was good the whole race."

The car was good when he tested at Bristol as well.

"I had never seen a track like that before," he said of the high banks. "It was definitely a learning experience. At one point we spun and got a piece of the inside wall, but I hear that's not uncommon your first time there. The test went well, though, and the team is improving."

The test went well enough that the young driver is excited about going back to Bristol for the race.

"I feel very good about it," Coulter said. "I think when we go back up there we're going to be good."
