Goodson Racing Takes Steven Davis to Bristol for ProCup Race

PENSACOLA, FL. -- Goodson Racing's driver Steven Davis, fresh off his USAR Hooters ProCup debut at Hickory Motor Speedway, is taking the team to Bristol Motor Speedway for the series' race Wednesday evening.

Driving the No. 6 Goodson Racing Ford, Davis went from one extreme to the other in his first ProCup race, driving the car to top-five times in practice, but a problem with the left-rear shock absorber resulted in a poor-handling car that relegated him to mid-pack in qualifying. The shock slipped on the adjuster, according to Mark Davis, Steven's father and crew chief, almost "jerking the left rear off the track" and forcing Davis to ride the brakes around the turns to settle the car.

In spite of the Hickory woes, Davis expects to do well at Bristol, a track similar to those where he learned his driving skills. "I think you'll see a different Steven at this track," his father said.

"He drove the wheels off of it," said Goodson following Bristol. "We were in the top five all weekend."

With the ability demonstrated at Hickory, one of the more challenging tracks on the schedule, Bristol should give Davis ample opportunity to show his skills as a racer.
