Osteen Doubles in Opening Event.

Larry Osteen of Clermont, Fl.Doubled in the Opening of the 2001 season at St. Augustine Speedway.  Osteen having to go to the read of the LateModel feature do to an incident with Harold Rankin, Jr.  Osteen carved his way back to the front,with only first and fourth gear, to take the win on the last lap from JaredAllison.  Followed Allison for third wasRichard Ferry, fourth was Jay Middleton and a hard charging fifth was ScottLagasse, Jr. Lagasse was the fast qualifier with a time of 16.89 seconds.

In the Open Wheel Modifieds Osteenlead all 25 laps.  Jason Lowe look likehe was going to be able to challenge Osteen but with eight laps to go the motorlet go.   Osteen went on to take thesecond feature of the night. Finishing second was Jamie Carter, third was MarkBergman, John Galbreath took fourth with Randy Gribbs, Jr fifth.

Hobby Stocks started where theyleft off last year with Jody Stratton and Chris Manucy, the 2000 track championbattled for the lead.  After a littlebump passing Manucy took the lead with 11 laps to go and never lookedback.  Stratton finished second withRodney Norman a strong third followed by Randy Wilkes and Randy Moody.

Troy Kruse continued his dominancesof the Mini Stocks.  Battling with VernRosier all 2o laps but The Kruser held on to win. Rozier was second followed byMickey Leth, Jake Hartley and Steve Thompson. Thunder Trucks saw Ricky Cooper onthe pole and leading all 20 laps.  ChallengingCopper was Robert Gorman Jr who finished second.  On a last lap turn four pass 14 year old rookie driver TerryWright passed Jody Turner for fourth. Mark Lento came in third.

Joey Haslauer returned to take theSportsman feature from 2000 Track Champion Todd Ponce. Haslauer led all 25 lapswith Ponce chasing.  Third was DavyCline and fourth was Ronnie Tillman. <pre> Late Models
