ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (February 19, 2001) -- Mark Dismore, Jr. collected a seventh place finish following the conclusion of the American Speed Association (ASA) ACDelco Series' season opener at St. Augustine Speedway Saturday evening. Dismore, Jr. and the No. 22 WOWemployers.com Chevrolet ran in the top-10 for most of the night, after starting the ASARacing.com 300 in ninth position.

Dismore, Jr. begins his second season in the ASA Series with Herzog Motorsports and is vowing not to be cursed with the dreaded "Sophomore Jinx." For the first race of the season, by qualifying in the top-10 and finishing well, Dismore, Jr.'s goal looks to be realized. "I was able to run 100 percent for 300 laps, dice it up with some good cars and have a lot of fun," Dismore, Jr. said.

"Howie (Lettow, crew chief) had a great setup on the WOWemployers.com Chevrolet and we were able to run consistently all evening," Dismore, Jr. continues. "We never had to make any adjustments and only took on tires and fuel. We had great pit stops and we were able to gain positions in the pits."

After starting ninth, Dismore, Jr. tried make his move up to the front. Contact with another competitor sent him spinning on lap 117. After regaining control, Dismore, Jr. continued on, losing seven positions and narrowly avoiding going a lap down to the leaders. A caution on lap 121 was the perfect opportunity for the No. 22 WOWemployers.com team to change right side tires and fill up on gas.

Dismore, Jr. restarted 11th on lap 128, and following another caution with pit stops by the leaders, was up to fifth place. A caution period between laps 172 and 175 saw the Herzog Motorsports entry come to the pits for fresh left side tires and more fuel. Dismore, Jr. would start 16th on the restart. From that point on, Dismore, Jr. was set to mount his charge back through the field. A series of caution periods and pit stops by the leaders aided Dismore, Jr. in his drive to the front, and for the last fifty laps it was Dismore, Jr.'s race to run.

Maintaining a steady rhythm, Dismore, Jr. moved his way up to seventh place in the closing laps and was underneath sixth place when the checkered flag flew, coming up 0.031 seconds short. "This was a good race for us," Dismore, Jr. stated. "Tonight did a whole lot of good for everyone and I just want to thank all the guys at Herzog Motorsports for their hard work and effort that go into these cars and WOWemployers.com for joining us this year in what's going to be an exciting 2001 season. I look to do even better in California and hopefully get some momentum going."
