Shultz' West Coast trip ends early.
INDIANAPOLIS(April 09, 2002) - Race ends early for the #04 ASILIMITED Monte Carlo in the TireRack.com 300 at Irwindale Speedway in Irwindale, California.
During the first practice session of the weekend, the #04 ASILIMITED Monte Carlo was involved in a racing incident in turn 1 of the ½ mile track. This accident resulted in (2) teams out of the race and (1) team in a back-up car. After just 15 laps on the track for Chris Shultz, his times were within 4 tenths of the fastest practice laps.
"It is very disappointing for our young race team, knowing that we had such an excellent car and set-up and have the trip out west end this way" says a dejected Shultz. He adds "This will make our resolve stronger and make us a better prepared team in the future."
"This is racing, and these thing happen. A team must be prepared for these situations and learn from them." says the experienced crew chief Deon Deneau.
Next up for the #04 ASILIMITED Monte Carlo will be testing at the Toledo Speedway the week of April 22nd. The next race is May 5th at Five Flags in Pensacola, FL. The National Network (TNN) will broadcast the race live at 2:00 p.m. EST.
