Pendleton, Ind. (July 15, 2003) -- Georgia sensation Reed Sorenson produced his fifth top-five finish in the opening nine events, continuing to build his $50,000 Rookie points lead in the ASA Racing Series. Driving the ACDelco / Port City Racecars / Tilton Engineering Chevrolet, Sorenson has produced a best finish of third on two occasions, initially at USA International Speedway in March and most recently at the Hawkeye Downs Speedway stop in May. Sorenson leads fellow rookie Travis Kittleson of Florida by 164 markers in the series that builds champions.

Kittleson is second in the freshman standings, racking up five-top five finishes, including a best performance of second at Concord Motorsport Park in April. Wheeling the No. 30 Bob Steele Chevrolet, Kittleson also finished third at Toledo Speedway, fourth at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway and fifth at the season- opening Jani-King 200 at USA International Speedway in March.

Illinois racer Boris Jurkovic posted the best finish of his career, crossing the line in fourth spot at Indianapolis Raceway Park, in the most recent series event. Driving the No. 66 Phil Hines Racing Chevrolet, Jurkovic continues to rank third in the Rookie standings.

Davin Scites, driver of the No. 06 John Michael Montgomery Chevrolet, is fourth in the rookie points after finishing 28th at the .686-mile oval in Central Indiana. Scites recorded the lone victory of his career at Concord in April, passing series veteran Mike Garvey on the final lap of the event. Scites has two top-10 finishes in the opening nine races.

The 10th event of the 2003 ASA Racing Series is set for Friday, July 18 at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, Wis. The BFGoodrich Tires 250 takes the green flag at 8 p.m. (Local) and will be telecast live on SPEED Channel.
